The original XF sedan made a massive impact when it was released, and its sales were strengthened by Jaguar updating the model this year, with the release of an entry level diesel model to tempt company car buyers and the environmentally conscious. And now, Jaguar is capitalizing on its global success by releasing an estate version of the XF, calling it the XF Sportbrake. However, this is slightly confusing.  Mercedes used the same 'Sportbrake' name for the estate variant of its CLS (the CLS Shooting Brake), making it a coupĂ©-estate. However, the XF Sportbrake is no coupĂ©. Instead, Jaguar have chosen the name as their 'premium' name for estate. Classy or confusing? The XF Sportbrake borrows its styling from the sedan version, and it looks stunning. It beats its Mercedes E Class estate and Audi A6 Avant rivals in a style competition, but in my opinion is neck and neck with the BMW 5 Series estate, albeit less exciting to drive. The narrow headlights of the XF, with their LED stripe, is incredibly eye-catching and adds to its massive appeal, making it look similar to the original concept model of 2007. So, yet again, Jaguar has created a great looker that is sure to be a sales success with its increased practicality in the form of the tailgate and 550 litres of room in the boot, and all-round appeal. And it arrives on sale in November this year, with a starting price of around £32,000 for the base 2.2 litre diesel. Plus, there's more to come from Jaguar. Expect an all-new SUV to surface soon, and an X-Type rival to appear, so Jaguar will have a true rival to the BMW 3 Series. If that's not enough, the E-type replacement is due soon, as well as the C-X75 hypercar.
