This is one car that's definitely cheap to run. Toyota is known in the hybrid world due to the stunning success of its Prius model all over the world, as well as the more recent Auris Hybrid. Now, however, The Japanese manufacturer has taken the drivetain out of the Prius and managed, some how, to fit its super-mini hatchback: the Yaris. This has resulted in the birth of the Toyota Yaris Hybrid. On the outside, it looks much better than standard Yaris, if only slightly differnet; there's the blue outlining on the logo
which only the most enthusiastic motor fan would spot, slight revisions to the light clusters with LED daytime running lights, and a slight tweaking to the bumpers. But its the figures which really impress. The small car only emits 79g/km of CO2 and achieves a magnificent 80 mpg, making it one of the most economical and environmentally friendly cars on the market. Plus the ride is quite smooth, so the Yaris will cope well with the pot hole ridden roads of the UK. The slight drawback, though, is you have to wait an eternity to hit 60mph, nearly 12 seconds. But, how much is the world's smallest hybrid car? £16,995. That's expensive. But, factor in the healthy amount of standard equipment and how cheap it is to run, and the price doesn't seem that high. The Yaris Hybrid goes on sale in the UK this month, and expect a whole host of rivals to arrive in no time.
