Mitsubishi is the latest car manufacturer to delve into the world of plug-in hybrid models. And the first model the Japanese model are releasing into the hybrid market is a plug-in EV version of the Outlander SUV, pictured left. This new car features three power sources, so driving ability can stem from the rear electric motor, the front electric motor or the engine mounted at the front of the SUV. Plus, a stunning figure of 50g/km of CO2 emissions is tipped to be part of the specs, along with a 500 mile range. This SUV then has the makings of a hit, when it arrives next year, in 2013, after a preview at the upcoming Paris Motor Show. The new generation Outlander, which looks less dramatic than the hybrid, will be released by Mitsubishi this year.
