Porsche Macan 2014The Porsche Macan 2014 is now just months from hitting UK showrooms in April next year. Orders for the Macan are already open, and this baby SUV could be a strong boost to Porsche's already healthy portfolio. But, to merit the Porsche badge, the Macan needs to as excellent on the road as it is to marvel at.
We give the verdict.

Review
The Cayenne marked a change for Porsche when the SUV arrived in 2002. Yet, more than 10 years on, the Macan has not faltered from the brand's sporting credentials. The handling is sharp and the Macan is an overall very agile car that will definitely not cease to entertain. And while the underpinnings may be shared with the Audi Q5, the end result is an entirely different car altogether. Off-road, it also does not fail to impress. The Porsche Macan is undeniably sporty and should certainly take the 2014 market by storm simply based on its dynamic ability.

The design of the Porsche Macan 2014 is visually pleasing and blends enough aggression to give a sporting menace that will ensure a strong road presence. The 2014 Macan's styling is also in keeping with the rest of the Porsche range, ensuring that the new model fits perfectly in the company's line-up. And, the 21" wheels ensure that the Macan can be taken seriously, even off-road. Porsche has also done well with the interior, giving the cabin a spacious and high-
class feel.

Price & Specs
From its 2014 launch, the Porsche Macan will arrive in 3 models: the 3.0 V6 bi-turbo (355bhp) Macan S, the 3.0 V6 turbodiesel (254bhp) Macan S Diesel and the 3.6 V6 bi-turbo (394bhp) Macan Turbo. If you simply want speed and power, then opt for the Turbo, which will sprint from 0-60mph in just 4.2 seconds and top out at 165mph. However, the diesel model is the best it terms of efficiency, achieving 46.3mpg and producing a very decent 159g/km of CO2.

As for the price, The Porsche Macan S and the diesel model both start at £43 300, while the turbo will set you back £59 300. While that may seem a little pricey, the car that you get for that is absolutely worth it. The BMW X3 and Audi Q5 are no competition; a new supercharged Range Rover Evoque would be the best test.

The Porsche Macan 2014 blends a superb design with a brilliant set of engines to produce a truly stunning car. Any critics will be silenced when it hits the road next year.
