Mercedes Benz E Class Facelift
Mercedes Benz E Class
The Mercedes Benz E Class facelift has arrived. At last. The E Class dates back to 1953, and has since been a key player in the executive car class. However, the recent model fell significantly short of its rivals, with the saloon looking outdated far too soon. Mercedes' answer has been to give the E Class one of the most radical facelifts ever seen for 2013, but will it be enough to recapture lost territory?

Mercedes Benz E Class: Design

Mercedes has not held back with the E Class facelift. Gone are the traditional double-isolated
headlamps in favor of a more stylish and modern LED design, while the
bumpers have been completely redesigned for the better. The inclusion of the large Mercedes badge on the bumper of the new E Class adds to the new-found character and style.

The interior has also been updated: there is now the option for two-part trim, a neat analogue clock, new air-vents, redesigned instrument cluster, and a much better trapezium-shaped display. Material and build quality are present as always.

Mercedes Benz E Class: Tech

The 2013 E Class adds to the list of features possessed by its predecessor, with the inclusion of the new 'Intelligent Drive' feature; a camera located beside the rear-view mirror collects visual data that can be used by other systems in the car to improve performance of other technologies, including pedestrian recognition and brake assist features.

The engine line-up for the new E Class remains largely unchanged, with the addition of a new 4-cylinder BlueDIRECT petrol engine that will provide good efficiency and economy figures. Actual details should surface soon.

Mercedes Benz E Class: Verdict
Mercedes Benz E Class Facelift
The facelifted E Class will hit showrooms in 2013, and is a much needed improvement over the current model. It certainly trumps the more bland Audi A6, but will face stiff competition form the already brilliant BMW 5 Series (which will also be facelifted next year). The only problem is that the Mercedes Benz E Class facelift may have come too late.
