The new
Cadillac ATS sedan has its release expected this year, but why all the hype? It's a new Cadillac that wants to beat
BMW, Audi and
Mercedes. And Cadillac bosses believe the new ATS can!
Cadillac ATS Design
Design wise, the Cadillac beats an Audi A4, but the new ATS is not as good looking as a BMW 3 Series. The styling is iconic Cadillac with the big grille and straight creases, but the new ATS looks more fresh and modern than previous Cadillacs. The headlamps are very stylish, with their sharp design and LED details. The new Cadillac's heavy chrome presence adds more flare and appeal.
Cadillac bosses believe the new ATS is very engaging to drive; they tested the ATS on the famous Nurburgring in Germany. The Cadillac ATS was first shown at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2012, but the UK release is a few years away with an expected £25,000 price. American release should be later this year.
Cadillac ATS Engines
314bhp 3.5 litre V6
266bhp 2.0 litre turbo
197bhp 2.5 litre petrol
The interior of the Cadillac ATS should also be good, with an 8" LCD Touchscreen, with Cadillac taking inspiration from the Apple iPad for the system. But not as good as BMW.
Cadillac ATS Verdict
Is the new Cadillac ATS a BMW beater? No.
