BMW 4 Series
BMW 4 Series spy shot
BMW is gearing up to unleash its all new 4 Series range, and the new car has been snapped under heavy disguise during its testing ahead of its 2014 launch.

But why has the German manufacturer decided to release a new 4 Series now? Simple. The 4 Series will effectively replace the 3 Series Coupe and Convertible models, separating the more practical sedan and estate cars from the sportier variants, much like Audi did when they released the A5 range.

But that's not it for the BMW 4 Series. BMW are also reportedly planning to release a small 4-door coupe version that will rival the Audi A5 Sportback, and it's likely to be branded as the 4 Series GranCoupe, if the recent BMW 6 Series GranCoupe is anything to go by.

The image on the right shows how the new car could look, and it looks stunning. The aggressive yet controlled styling is beautiful,  coupled with the trademark kidney grille and fine chrome detailing and sporting stance illustrates that BMW has the makings of a real stunner.

Plus, if that's not enough, there will also be a powerful M4, which should hit showrooms around 6 months after the standard 4 series Coupe, and will be more powerful than the upcoming M3 range. As for the engines for the new BMW 4 Series, for now we can assume that they will be largely pinched from the new 3 series line-up.
